Paul Seltzer, Chair

Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2006 and chairs the Special Programs and Events Committee of MBCS. With his wife, Susan, he owns and operates Edgewater Bed and Breakfast in Maders Cove. He is past president and membership chair of Mahone Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Mahone Bay Legion Band. Former work associations include: owner of deli/bakery in Jacksonville, FL; interim director of conference centre and food-service manager; owner/operator of catering business in Syracuse, NY; Education director for Hospice of Central New York; furniture sales manager; Lutheran pastor 21 years. Interests include trombone, piano, and harmonica music... and life's journey. Paul lives in Maders Cove.

Ted Hobson, Vice Chair

Ted Hobson grew up in Halifax, and pursued undergraduate and graduate studies in the U.S. and England. He was in the Canadian Foreign Service for 30 years, specializing in international trade and economic relations, in Ottawa and in postings in Geneva, Paris, and Washington. He also served as Canadian Vice-Consul in Pakistan and Afghanistan in the mid-1970s, and as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen from 1996-2000. In 2001 he and his wife Sherry retired to Mader's Cove.

Suzanne Lohnes-Croft , Secretary

A long-time resident of Mahone Bay, Suzanne attended the "old" Mahone Bay School. She has continued an interest in the school by co-chairing Reunion 2000, and organized the "Recommisioning of the "Old School Bell", as an event during the 250 Anniversary celebrations of the Town of Mahone Bay. Suzanne has served the community as a volunteer in many capacities such as President of the Bayview Community School, Home & School, Chair of Trinity United Church Council, a director of the Mahone Bay Tennis Club, Church Boys League Leader, coaching numerous sports teams, and chair of the Mahone Bay Sustainability Committee. Suzanne was choosen by the Town of Mahone Bay to receive a Provincial Volunteer Award in April 2010. Working for the South Shore Regional School Board, parenting three boys with her husband Ken, attending to two dogs and a cat fill up most of her "spare" time.

Annette St. Onge, Treasurer

is a Mahone Bay resident who works primarily in developing and transitional economies throughout the world. She is a managing partner in two international consulting groups. Her work has focused on women’s entrepreneurship and is currently service as president of the International council for Small Business. Locally, she is the Mahone Bay representative on LQRDA, chairperson for the Mahone Bay Economic Development Planning Committee, and a new member of the board of the Chamber of Commerce.

Sidney Lang, Membership

Sidney Lang is a retired teacher-librarian from Ontario, where she was President of Durham Teacher Librarian Association. She served as Director for Whitby Theatre Company and Whitby Station Art Gallery in Whitby, Ontario. Sidney has a keen interest in sailing (raced for 25 years) and painting/life drawing. She lives in Martin's River.

Phil Kenny, Rental Committee

Phil Kenny served thirty years as a naval officer, commanding the base at Shelburne and as the director of the navy's Family Support Centre. After the navy, Phil and his wife ran the Keepers B&B, and he was the Executive Director of the Bridgewater Chamber of Commerce for twelve years. Since his retirement last year, Phil and his wife Carolyn have lived at the Quinlan Condominiums in Mahone Bay.

James Fox, Charitable Status / Grants

Jim and his wife Carolyn have lived on Clearland Road since 1996 and his mother lived in Mahone Bay since 1964. Jim served in the armed forces 40 years, and he was then the executive director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada for 3 years. He is a strong believer in MBC as an important institution of Mahone Bay.

Scott Dorey, Building Comm

Scott is a former student at the old Mahone Bay School. Currently, he is a certified master home builder, and owns New Discovery Renovations & Home Inspections. He lives in Martins River with his wife, Debbie and their two children.

Susan Beresford, Volunteer Committee

serves as a pharmacist at Kinburn Pharmasave in Mahone Bay. Originally from Halifax, she graduated from Dalhousie University and is now enthusiastically involved in community affairs. She is soon to become a grandmother.

Francine O Hagan

is the owner/operator of the Mug and Anchor Pub and Old Mader’s Wharf in Mahone Bay. She has lived and worked in Mahone Bay for twenty-two years. During those years she has served on several boards and committees, both in town and in the county. She is past chair of the Chamber of Commerce and a firm supporter of many non-profit organizations.

Anne Freeman

Anne moved to Upper LaHave with her husband, Tim, two years ago from Beamsville, Ontario, where they had owned and operated a wholesale herb growing business for many years. Her earlier career was as an elementary school principal. Anne was introduced to the Mahone Bay Centre when she participated in the Work Week activities.

Jon Allen, Special Events Committee

Jon and his wife Ina live on Keddy Bridge Road and came to Mahone Bay from Toronto in 1981. Jon worked in real estate for 17 years. He served on Mahone Bay Town Council 1985-1988, is the founder and member of South Shore Players, leader of the Mid-Life Crisis musical group, is active writing music and plays, and golfing. He has been active at MBC fundraising events, Seniors Project and painting projects.

Winston Seaton, Fundraising Committee / Arts

Win and his wife Lauren live in The Moorings on Main Street, Mahone Bay, since the spring of 2008. He worked in the Graphic Design business for 35 years in the UK, Eastern and Western Canada. Design Co-ordinator for the EXPO 86 in Vancouver, President of the Graphic Designers of Canada, Design Professor University College of the Fraser Valley, Fine Artist and former Art Gallery Owner. He also served as President of Queens County Board of Trade 2002-05 and was a candidate for the Provincial Liberal Party in 2003. He has been active at MBC as the artist representative and worked on concept development for the centre.
