SQUARE FOOT CLUB UPDATE
January 2010

For  donation information, please click here.

The good news is that so far we have "buyers" for $25,000 worth of the centre! We
still need $5000. to reach our goal. If you are among those intending to "buy in"
please do so, or let us know your intentions asap, so we can meet our goal of $30,000.

Have a look around the centre when you have a chance to see the many improvements in progress.

If you or your business does NOT need a tax receipt, make your cheque out for a
square foot or more at $100 per square foot, to "Mahone Bay Centre." If you DO want a tax receipt the process is three fold, starting January 1st, to comply with town rules.

  1. Make your cheque out to "Town of Mahone Bay Athletic & Cultural Fund" with NO references anywhere on the cheque to the Square Foot Club or Mahone Bay Centre.
  2. Fill out a separate donor form available from the centre office or a board member.
  3. Return both to the MBC office for processing.

All donors can have the name of their choice included on the Donor's Wall in the centre entrance lobby for perpetuity.

MORE ON THE SQUARE FOOT CLUB FUND RAISER AT MBC
December, 2009

We are gaining on our goal of $30,000 with almost $15,000 having been received. Thank you!

It has been asked if "purchases" of square feet of the centre can be made after Dec. 31st? OR if intentions and pledges to "purchase" later would help?

The answer to both queries is "YES". Invoices for completed work will no doubt arrive after December 31st. However, it would help us to know where we stand if you could inform us when we could expect your donation. Thanks.

Paul Seltzer, Chair
MBC Board of Directors

October 24, 2009

The biggest fund raising effort in our short history at MBC was launched at the Harvest Jam, October 24th.

We have received an ACOA government grant of $113,000 for more improvements to our building. That is wonderful news. The flip side is that we have to come up with our $30,000 share of the grant so that the work can be completed by December 31, 2009. In other words, we have to use it, or we lose it.

Email Address Change for the Centre

The Centre is in the process of changing its current email address, thecentre@mahone bay.com. We hope this will not be an inconvenience to you. The new email address will be activated on November 1st, 2009. The old address will be deactivated on the same date, so the Centre hopes you will have had enough time to change /update your address book to the new email address: welcome@mahonebaycentre.com

September Update from the Centre

The summer season has been a very busy one here at the Centre. Summer students have worked long hours on the exterior painting and have us looking fresh and fabulous!

The new windows have been installed, all 109 of them, and what a difference they make! Free will donations are currently being accepted to purchase the old school windows. If you would like to own a piece of Mahone Bay history, please call the Centre at 624-0890.

Room 305 has been divided to create two beautiful spaces. In one of our newly renovated spaces, we welcome Laura Bowles, registered massage therapist, to the Centre. Thanks to everyone for working so hard on all these improvements.

We say a fond farewell to our summer tenants, BCAF and the Coast Guard crew. It  has been great having you here and we will miss all your smiling faces passing through the hallways.

And last, but not at all least, our MBC website has a brand new look. Check us out at www.mahonebaycentre.com

MBC Executive Annual Report June 1, 2009

"Sunshine has come to the Mahone Bay Centre." That's what someone remarked last summer after seeing how the fresh coat of yellow paint transformed the north side of the old school building. Physically, it has given us all a boost this past year, reminding us of how the centre is improving in looks and possibilities. Sunshine is also a metaphor for much of what is happening internally at MBC in our activities and attitudes. Sunshine is warm, cheery, inviting, and full of life-giving energy. Sunshine also helps us to see all the realities more clearly, the challenges as well as the achievements.
