Volunteering

Our Volunteer Program is an essential part of the Centre's operations, events and activities. Our office manager is our only full time employee. We have a part time custodian. Everything else that is happening, and has happened since the inception of MBC, has been through volunteer efforts. Thousands of volunteer hours of labor and creativity have brought us to where we are today, and represent many thousands of dollars. It also assists our grant applications by showing the level of community support and providing "in kind" donations

The Centre is reactivating its Volunteer Committee. We are looking for any and all individuals who:

• Know the great value of volunteers
• Experience firsthand the fun and fellowship gained while working together
• Understand the importance of a heartfelt thank you, and
• Want to share their own ideas and experience

First we will brainstorm, make plans, and then we will take action; no time wasted. Please contact the Centre's Office and leave a message.

Have some fun, meet new people, get involved in your community, come down and check us out. Contribute your skills and interests towards meaningful community based initiatives and become a valued member of a committed, high-spirited group of volunteers comprised of local individuals and business people who work hard to ensure that the "old school" remains a vibrant part of community life in the Mahone Bay area.

YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY as a volunteer to be involved in a variety of innovative projects and special events that involve the community, arts, recreation and culture.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• working on committees for building improvements
• program development, marketing
• finance
• rentals
• seniors projects
• special events
• grounds care
• communications
• applying for charitable status for MBC
• coordinating the volunteers efforts
• fundraising, art events
• community social events
• offering to serve on the board of directors
• ...and whatever else you notice that needs doing
